z6 and a6 block differences....
i thought the z6 and z6 blocks were the same so was going to switch everything out of an old a6 block into my z6 block which has no crank....well everything seemed to fit right except when i went to put the thrust washers in...it was really loose on one side and i couldn't get the other one in place....are the cranks different??

who's chris? i was pretty sure the cranks were the same! i had the girdle on, rods bolted up, oil pump and rear main seal on when i realized i forgot the thrust washers, but when i took the girdle off to put them on they wouldn't go in...everything else went on fine.

Well it maybe a bit tricky to put the thrust washers in with both the seals in? you should be able to move the crank back and forth. Use a large prybar to shift the crank where you need it to go. And roll the thrust washers in. (remember the oiling side goes towards the crankshaft)

Re:z6 and a6 block differences....
these two blocks are exactly the same except for one has a oil control valve in the block (a6) and one has it in the head (z6) hince the reason when you do a z6 head on a a6 block you need to remove the one in the block of the a6.

Re:z6 and a6 block differences....
i put it in today and it ran like straight ***, it didnt even want to idle. so i pulled my computer outside and hooked the zdyne up and messed with it for an hour and a half and got it so it ran halfway decent. but i don't understand why it wouldn't just run off the same fuel and spark maps that i was running on the stock a6 motor??
