The Brown top ZC had better cams. You could bolt the later black top or 88-89 D16A1 dist to it, or do like the cool kids and swap HF cam tower cap and dist on.

The 86-87 D16A1 (also brown top, but NEVER called that as it gets confused with ZC) was rated 112 hp, the 88-89 118hp, and the ZCs 130-135 depending on who you talked to.

I've experienced two, but never got to ride in either.
