this will make you think, d15b1 question
ok so i searched google and ---- and found out that the car motor (d15b1 in a 90 hb) i have is a std motor, i have the 4speed gayness tranny and everything. but here is the wierd part...... everything i read on the search i did told me that the motor was a 8 valve motor and it used a pm9 ecu. so i look closer at the motor in the garage and it is a 16 valve motor. hmmmm....... so i thought maybe the kid who had it befor me did a head swap, nope the code on the head is pm9-4.... so what the ---- it is a d15b1 (pm9) wich is a 8 valve motor but it has a pmp 16 valve head ?
i really dont know what is going on with this thing so if you do make a post and let me know, by the way it is a dpfi

pull the cam out if you take the motor out, they are funny cuz the lobes look round. It's almost hard to tell which is the bearing surface and which is the lobe. The cam from the DX d15b2 looks big in comparison, but for reference that casting is the same as the a6 head from the si, just a different cam. Drop in and Si cam with the MPFI swap and they aren't bad motors. But don't push them much more than that. Stock ~70hp flywheel --> Add si cam and mpfi swap with i/h/e looking at maybe ~110hp flywheel (basically a 1.5 si motor). Pull 57% more power out of any motor and it won't be happy forever.
I got lucky, when I bought my 89 std, the dealer didn't want a 4 spd on the lot, so he swapped in a 90 5spd w/ 90+clutch, DX tranny, but still better than 4spd.
