what's the diff?

Re: what's the diff?
Difference is about 20hp...and yeah, you can fit a d16a1 in a second gen crx...just have to get creative with the mounting. If i remember right they have a front engine mount instead of one off the side by the cam gears. I made a solid tube mount for the front one to bolt through the front crossmember instead, and made one for the driver's side mount as well. If you have no fabrication skills though and no welder, don't even bother.

Re: what's the diff?
I was just wondering. cause at first glance it looked just like a zc to me. valve cover seem to be a perfect match and dizzy too. I thought the mounts were all in the same spot as other d series though. I guess I could be wrong here. trannys worth anything?

Re: what's the diff?
externally look the same
d16a1 manifold sucks *****
weaker cams
depending on years different pistons
different engine mount. Engine mount is located in the front rather than the side by the t belt. If you have ever worked or been around the 86-89 teg/84-87 civic/crx chassis you will notice this right away compared to newer 88+ honda civic.
113-118 hp d16a1
dohc zc black valve 130 hp
ya there the same
