what headgasket should i use? had a cometic
I'm having overheating problems and I'm gonna replace the headgasket. What should I use. I had a cometic with arp head studs. Engine is a d16a6 currently boosting 8 psi. I've already replaced the rad cap and thermostat, flushed the rad and bled the system several times. The water pump has less than 5000 mi. I've also got the rad fan on a toggle switch. The damn thing keeps overheating. What temp is overheating? I've got an autometer gauge. So what gasket should I use now? Any suggestions, experiences?

Also what is the deal with copper spray? Should I use it? Who makes it? Cost? How do I apply( thin coat? both sides?)
use the oem gasket, and spray alot of copper spray on both sides, let it try, and repeat, then do it again
you can get the copper spray at the local autoparts store. and I guess if you wana get one of their head gaskets aswell. your head is probly lifting under boost, get ARPs

Is a 91 d16a6 stock hg metal or should I get one for another d series motor. Which will fit exact?
Get a 92-95 D16z6 (SI/EX) metal head gasket. The d16a6 is a composite gasket and doesnt hold the boost well. You can get this gasket at the dealer or at aftermarket part stores. The thin layer of copper spray is definatly a good idea. Also besure to bleed the ---- out of the cooling system when you first put this thing back together to get all the air-pockets out. You wouldnt beleive how many times my friends think they have blown head gaskets and overheating issues when its just a simple air pocket.
the y8 gasket i got from hondaautomotiveparts.com was a metal 3-layer for $22.50.
the z6 there costs $42.67.
i have been told they are the same, but i don't know why the price difference.

ya know I dont know what the deal is with the y8 and z6 headgaskets.. They are a different part #, the look the freaking same and the y8 is alot cheaper. I've been buying all my head gaskets aftermarket lately because even with my discount its still a ripoff. I got a z6 head gasket yesterday aftermarket for 19.00, looks exactly like a factory one.
