I spun every single bearing in my engine. It does not necessarly mean new block and crank. They align bore the block. Welded the crank and cut it to spec. Three rods had to be resized. In the end it cost me 500 do get it all done. Not too bad. A bearing is not a moving part in a engine. That why they have those notches in them. The actually bearing is the film of oil. Hope i clarified it.

i spun two bearing and all others are bad, looks liek they were all polished . coz 550 to rebuild and put new piston and rods in. BTW it`s been fucked for more than 7 months and it still rns fine. just add a quart of 20w-50 oil everyweek. oh well until it was hydro-locked.

would I be better off just waiting for a running block? or getting this one with the spun bearing? It's gonna cost me $35 and a 4 hour drive. your opinions?

a new crank could be hard to find, what kind of block is it? I'm assuming d-series since you have forsaken the real power of b blocks.

Look, pretty much any non running y8 is gonna usually have some type of bearing failure. Get the crank micropolished ($40) and get all new bearings (with the right specs after the crank MP)
I wouldn't get a whole new block or whatever unless the crank had major ---- wrong with it, but in most of the y8 cases I've seen, it doesn't even look like its been damaged. Definately salvageable. Go get that motor. IMO.

Just a comment about spun bearings... I knew a guy who rebuilt his V8 boat motor, and the bearing clearances were all pretty tight. He spun a bearing by running some heavy weight racing oil in it.. Probably a rare case but hey I guess it can happen

And if you think about it, say theres a big nick in the crank. Get it micropolished. As long as there isn't a sharp edge to catch on, it would actually make for more room for oil between the crank and the bearing. I would think.
