Default what b -series block can I use?

I have a b18b1 cylinder head, but my block is trashed, what other shortblocks can bolt up too this head other than 94+ b-series? Can I use 90-93 ls b18a blocks? or would it be cheaper too just buy new oem pistons and rings? because I blew my rings out on my motor.

you can use any b-block I believe, you would just have to block off the oil passage on vtec blocks.

thats a non vtec cyl head. so you will have to do a opposite ls/vtec to use a vtec block.

a b18a will bolt right up. but with lower compression. your best bet if the pistons are in good shape is to rebuild it w/ a fresh cyl hone and new rings.

what are your plans with the car? as crx88si said, the ba81's will bolt right up. id say which ever turns out to be the cheapest for u. maybe u could find a block local for cheap money and do that. or maybe u can hone it with rings for cheap. my blocks junk, and im just puttin a b18a block in it.

Like the other suggestions, try fixing your existing block (many threads on doing that) you'll be money ahead.

If you must, yeah, go find a b18a1 and bolt your ---- right on it. That's what I did, b18a1 block + b18b1 head, I call it the RSLS hybrid. Ya know when I did it, I didn't even think of compression difference, oh well who the hell needs 9.2:1 anyways. Lower compression means I can boost more and cheap out using shitty gasoline

i know this may be a dumb hybrid newb question, but here it goes anyways. I've decided to let my sohc go but I'm gatrhering parts for my b18. I just got a low milage block off my buddy and in the proccess of finding a hydro b series tranny. Just wanna know what other parts will I need off 94+ teg too bolt my b18 into my eg? I know this been covered here b4, but the search option sucks on here and I've been only had expiereince with force induction and swapped a motor once into my 96 teg (that was basically bolt on. can u help me out or give me some write-up or links thanks HMT...
