Default Water Temp guage Hookup

I have a simple question for anyone who knows how to hook up guages properly. I have an autometer h2o temp guage and I am wondering if I have to run a seperate wire to the sensor or if I can just splice into the wire that already is there?

what? you have to use the sender that came with the guage, not your stock honda one.

So what do I do with the wire that is there? Do I do what is done in the picture above and just splice it? Or will my temp guage on my cluster jsut not work? I am clueless when it comes to guages.

You seem pretty confused. You can mount the autometer sender in the stock location on the side of the head like I did. Just remove the stock sender and tape up the original sender wire. Then install the autometer sender with a new wire and run it to your autometer gauge. Of course your stock gauge will not work now, but who cares because you now have an autometer. Or you can install it like mistabone did in the water outlet housing on the front of the head and still utillize the stock gauge as well.
