Also, Chris, your sender was after the radiator if I remember correctly, and that gauge will naturally show a cooler reading. My crx, as the water pump is going out, builds heat up to the 200* mark after a long 4th gear ripper. As you get out of the throttle it comes back to about 192ish and will rest there as you cruise. My reading is from using the tunertoys block fitting for the mechanical water temp gauge.

Re: Water temp????

car has to get to operating them before the gauge start reading. because the thermostat is closed.

Incorrect. Coolant is always flowing past the temp sensor because of the coolant bypass from the head through the intake manifold back to the water pipe.

In the stock position not in the lower radiator hose.

Duh!

There is no "SENSOR" in the thermostat housing. That is called a "SWITCH". It is a normally open switch that is used to turn on the fan when the radiator is not removing enough heat from the system.

The OEM position is in the head. Coolant flows through the head and through the bypass while the thermostat slowly opens.

Re: Water temp????

i bought a piece of pipe and put it between my head and top radiator bung. Use 2 hose clamps and tapped the pipe and put the sender in it doesn't look to pretty but works just fine.

Re: Water temp????

I jus hooked it to the relieve valve at the bottom middle of the radiator....works fine...after the thermo opens

My friend told jus to pull the thermostat out and have it run wide open all the time...the only prob is...is that my vtec wouldnt kick in till op. tempature
unless i get a chipped ecu
is this true?
and would my engine run a tad cooler?

The bottom of the radiator will not reflect the actual engine coolant temp since this will be coolant with heat already removed.

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. Just get a lower (185 degree is good) temperature thermostat. Your engine will run inconsistently since the temperature will not be constant.
