Coolant temp must be measured AFTER it exits the head. That reflects an accurate temperature of the motor.

Temp prior indicates how well the radiator is transferring energy in the form of heat. Come on people, it's not rocket science.

The pic Bone posted up shows the best location. Or you can tap the head nearby the OEM sensor. Heater hoses will only work if the coolant is allowed to flow into the heater core meaning the temp slider is all the way open. Otherwise it will be inaccurate.

So far you broken the ECU code to keep motor out of cold start loop below 165-170 degrees, or you dealing with the lack of performance?

No need to "break" the ecu code. Look at the advanced tables in CROME. You can adjust the ECT Fuel Compensation there.

I've not gotten into ECU coding, I have Blundar for that.

Dave does the tuning, Ryan does the porting, I build the trannys, Joe'e helps with the motor building and swapping.

Does the ECT Fuel comp also alter the timing tables? I know from talking with someone of great knowledge the ECU doesn't allow full timing maps until 165-170......

No it's Fuel Comp only, but there is alsoa seperate ECT Ignition Comp table.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you have a functioning thermostat, it would be mostly impossible for it go any lower than the thermostat temp.

It just means that you won't need as much radiator capacity as an engine that burns hotter.

Have you ever ran a alky motor?

On a cool night?

I rest my case.

Building heat into the motor will be a PITA.

You're trying to tell me that you don't need a radiator when running alcohol on a cool night?

Right..........
