Re:vx motor in 91 dx help
congrats, you just swpped the gayest motor possible into your car. my hatch was a vx, and man before i swapped in my built mini me, it was painfully slow. why did you go for a vx motor ?? it bogs a 4000 cause its a piece of ----

Re:vx motor in 91 dx help
No the reason the VX is such a bullshit motor is because of its GAY *** transmission, its not that bad of a motor. i actually have one in my hf until i get my mini me built.
Ive got Si tranny, ecu, and intake, and it runs pretty damn strong, up to 7200 all day! Its so much better than the 62 Hp it had! lol
I put mine in their becasue i was sorta desperate, but hey, its coming out soon.

Re:vx motor in 91 dx help
hello, the VX motor while good for economy is a Vtec-E motor, if you are not using a vtec-e ECU that could be part of the problem.
in all honesty, a vx motor swap is not going to be bad in a little car, if you just wanted to save gas, have low emmissions and retain OEM driveabilty. But since this is homemadeturbo.com i doubt that is what you had in mind.
the good thing with SOHC's is the abilty to swap out the bad parts of the motor(head+trans and possibly pistons depending on year in your case) and make it a "decent" little motor in the right chassis.
the d15z1 vx motor actualy has a few things going for it, namely the revabilty and 1.62 rod stroke ratio(same as the JDM d15b vtec) If you would like some more help, feel free to PM me.

Re:vx motor in 91 dx help
You should throw a obd0 b16 ecu and use it to run it to trigger vtec. Might run kinda rich but hey gotta do what you gotta do. You should slap a a6 intake manifold on it to help it out some with breathing if you haven't done that?
