install a light,

tap into the line that runs from the ECU to the solenoid... and just find a ground... and when your VTEC engages it should light up...

I would definately check the oil screen on the vtec solonoid. If it's plugged, that could be a good reason. Also, i think there's a screen on the vtec housing as well, might wanna check that while your at it. Oh, and nice post niceguy...sounds like someone wants to filch a motor...

when i converted my 88rex to obd1 i though vtec was not kicking in and i was right. So i made a switch to turn it on when i pushed the button and whalah problem fixed. Then only downfall was i had to turn it on all the time i wanted to which i guess wasnt so bad. Try that see if it helps and try it with the engine off and see if you hear the soleniod click.
