Default Valves Clackin like crazy

Alright. The timing belt slippin thing was simply the cover. But now I'm trying to adjust the valves and its not going well. On my ZC.

Currently they are clackin that crazy. They are extremely loud. I don't remember the valves ever being this loud. I adjusted them by placing the feeler guage right between the rocker arm and the cam lobe.

.005 - .007 Intake
.006 - .007 Exhaust

Using a .006 on all of them having the .008 not slide in at all. But I've done them twice and no change. The car revs of course extremely loud. The car will rev at idle to 6 just fine. When I take it out for a drive it lacks a lot of power and is not running right at all. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Timing belts dont need the cover to stay on. I'm assuming you didnt set your motor to tdc when you did the belt or you were off. What is your base ignition timing set at?

Cam jumped a tooth or the belt tensioner is fucked.

Have you ever done a successful valve adjustment? sounds like you don't have each cylinder at TDC when you're doing its adjustment. If you are having trouble rotating the crank to setup each cylinder, remove the spark plugs and your life should be a bit easier. Double check the timing belt position, then slowly go around and do the valve ajustment again.

I've seen some mess this up where they tighten the screw too much an are actually opening the valve and think it's cool because they had the proper feeler gauge in there, you may be able to slide the gauge out by yanking it, and then not be able to get it back in. This just leaves the valves open at all times. Just go do it again and take your time. Otherwise you may have bigger issues such as worn valve springs that can't return that valves to their seat with the cam profile (float) or sticky guides, bent valves, plenty of bad things that may be wrong.

Good luck
