Your headgasket(s) are done. Pump some compressed air into the cylinders to figure out which cylinder head is bad.

if headgaskets were bad it would be blowing white smoke out of the exhaust.. which it does a little at startup but not like bad headgasket smoke

needs a HG, change the oil, you didn't hurt the 305.

Take a 305, warm it up, drain the coolant, run it for 10 more minutes, change oil and add water back in. How you prep a 305 for a derby car

headgasket blowing can blow a cyl to oil, cyl to water, oil to water, or hit all 3 at once. depends where it blows on the gasket

Nope wrong. Sometimes, and a lot of times with chevy heads, they will get small cracks that only leak when the engine is at certain temps. Went through a headgasket on my 350 till I figured that one out, and replaced it with a rebuilt head.
