Default troubleshooting ideas?

my car has a mean ------- vibration at right around 3000 rpm.

shakes the fuckn doors off practically. car still runs fine just very bad vibration.

does it in nuetral as well as in gear. just around 2800-3200,

would this be a bad balance on the internals?? thats the only thing i can think of.

set-up:

boosted d16a6

rods, vitaras, cometic HG, 450cc dsm injectors, pr4 ecu chipped, t-bird turbo.

any ideas, if its an internal problem then its just gonna get left alone.

Is it a speed related issue? IE does it do this at say 60mph in third and in fifth? Sitting still? Is the vibration consistent every time or not? New or old axles?

not speed related, rpm related,

does it in neutral, dont believe it to be the axles or wheel bearings, transfers through all the controls i.e. pedals, steering wheel, shifter.

i dont know what the ---- it is.

theory:

changed the alternator, shortly after this vibe starts. along with vibe is sqeuaking like a loose belt. just tightened the belt.

is it possible for an alternator to be out of balance its just a theory but ---- thats all i have.

cant isolate where the noise is coming from when i rev the engine.

Check and make sure your crank pulley bolt is tight. Ive seen dseries work the bolt loose and as such the pulley does the same. I highly doubt its your alternator. Its possible the belt tension that is on the alternator now has just brought this problem to light.
