Default spudder issues. Fix this so i can put my turbo kit on! u fix it get 5$ paypal.

ok.
d16z6 in a 1990 civic

fully converted to obd1

Car runs alright. pulls decent. But it seems to be spuddering at high rpms. Like if i rev it real high, then shift into 4th and give it gas it will spudder/bog. Almost as if its detonation. But the I double checked cam timing and ignition timing is good. However, in order for the ignition timing for be lined up, the dizzy has to be rotated all the way towards the bumper. I did jump the service connecter when i did ignition timing also. Any help will be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

I have a turbo kit sitting in my room waiting to get put on. I just need to figure this problem out first.

if you can lead to the problem ill paypal you 5$. ive been trying to fix it for a while.

Make sure the engine's warmed up completely before setting distributor timing. Once it warms up and the idle drops, then jump the service connector (which pretty much just eliminates the chances of the iacv opening up and jumping the rpm...which in turn jumps the timing) and set your base timing. What's your setup? Unless you're using an obd0 head the dizzy should sit somewhere in the normal "centered" location.

i have the car warmed up completely than jump the service connecter. in order for the dizzy timing to be on you have to have the dizzy rotated all the way towards the front of the car. i am stumped. I am running a non vtec ecu with the d16z6 but thats because my p28 is chipped for boost already with a basemap. Would running a p06 with a z6 cause this maybe??

What distributor are you using. If your using the a6 dizzy that's normal, if your using a z6, your timing is off or 180 degrees off. Is vtech hooked up. if so your running lean up top.
Do you have an FPR? increase the fuel pressure a little.
hows plugs, wires, cap rotor?

how can it be 180 degrees off? There is a notch in the dizzy so it cant go in 180 degrees off. Its a z6 dizzy. vtec isnt working cause its a p06. i dont think it would cause spuddering.

You can't use an a6 dizzy on obd1. It is very possible that since vtec isn't working, it's enrichening too much on the high cam setting causing it to sputter. You should really get vtec working first and see what happens.

your timing has to be off if your pointing it all the way the firwall. cause normally it's in the center.

The z6 cam gear doesn't allign to 12 o clock. there's a notch on the cover behind it at about 7 o clock and a notch in the cam gear at about 6o clock or whatever (not the two center notches) that have to be alligned. not the 12 o clock side notches to the head surface.

how your ignition, plugs, etc.? Tighten your spark plug gap a little, you might have high rpm blow out

what do you mean by high rpm blow out?? And can you explain the cam timing. i dont understand what you are trying to say. When i did mechainical timing i lined up the line on the crank pulley, and put the cam gear at tdc by lining up the two lines with the head deck surface and the tdc mark at the top.
