Default speedometer cable removal

Somewhere I read that you have to be careful when removing this from the tranny because the gear might fall in tranny housing. Any tips on avoiding this, I'm removing a tired Hf engine from a 91 CRX.

just pull up the rubber cover and pull the clip, if you unbolt it that's when it falls into the tranny. and it's kinda hard to get it back in the right way, when I finished my swap it wasn't in right and I didn't get a speedo reading, I drove to school wondering why I was passing everyone?!

looks like a small horse shoe clip, once its out.. it comes right out

when re-installing you have to shove that ****** in deep, and I mean deep baby.

behind the cluster there is a small plastic clip that holds it in place. And 1 10mm mounting bolt under the dash.
