Default which shift linkage/custom linkage

alright, so ive read if your putting a b series into an eg you need to modify your stock linkage (lenghten it) and then i read if you use b series linkage you need to shorten it, well i read on hasport.com that the stock 94-00 teg linkage will bolt right up, is this true?

because i tried lengthening my stock eg linkage but for some reason the shifting is all fucked up, it doesnt seem like it really wants to go into any gear and is really sloppy

any advice on either?
