sensative gas meter

Default sensative gas meter

hey do any of you guys have this problem when your going in a straight line its where it should be then when you turn it goes down to like .25 tank then goes back to normalwhen you streighten out? sorry for spelling

Yeah I have the same prob. I've been told that the floaty thing in your tank that measures the gas amount moves when you turn. Same when your going up and downhill as well as accelerating hard. I pretty much stop looking at my gas meter and just go by my trip meter.

My buddy's 98 lx no tach cluster does that

i guess cuz that needle is 5 inches long

it's just the gas sloshing around in the tank. when you corner hard, most of it moves to one side, leaving the middle (where the sender float is) lower than normal. same deal with braking/accelerating. a dirty/inacurate sender could exaggerate the problem.
the gauge needle would bounce around with every movement of the sender if it weren't internally oil dampened. my guess is that hot weather makes the dampening oil less viscous, allowing the needle to move around more freely.
