Open loop reads all sensors and takes the input, matches it to certain criteria and then gives your fuel and timing. Closed loop skips the sensors and goes straight to the fuel/timing maps. Ichy, he's got a point with gas mileage though...open loop is better for that. As for the fpr, I'd just swap in a known good one (shouldn't cost too much for one, most honda fpr's are interchangable). Could also be the gas itself too...PA winter-grade fuel's aren't the cleanest, and alot of them now have 10-20% mtbe. I've tried regular stuff and the mtbe stuff, and the regular non-mixed does seem to produce better power results and better gas mileage.

my mileage "dropped" when I was on I80 coming home... 400mile stretch of 80 without filling up... this is at 90+mph average my milage drops when I do under 80... and thanks for owning yourself on open vs closed loop, dicklips
