Default Re-Ringing JDM D15B Vtec engine

I am thinking since I got laid off I could re-ring the JDM D15B while I wait on work and my built motor.

It would need to last about 8 months, give or take.

I was thinking I could just go Napa style on the parts. But I am not sure what all I would need.

I know I could re-use the oil pan gasket.
Could I re-use the rod bearings? Its been said yes but its risky.
What rings do I use? JDM motor still has 75mm bore like the z6, would those work?
Is re-honing a must? I can probably get a honing tool pretty cheap, so maybe thats not a big issue.

The biggest issue is knowing what motor to buy rings for. No one is gonna have rings for a jdm d15b vtec motor. Also the rod bearing question I am wondering about.

If anyone can give me a full parts list and what I can expect to spend, let me know too. I wanna keep this as cheap as possible to just get my compression back and rid of the blowby for the next 6 months or so.

Update:

The OEM thing from a local dealer, so not happening.

Headgasket only sold as head set - $210.84
Head Bolts - $102.40 (might as well go ARP for 12 more)
Rod Bearings (If i was gonna replace) $28.24 per hole = 112.96
Rings - $30.33 per hole = $121.32

Yeah no.

Baxter prices:
Rings = $49.38
Head Gasket (FelPro) $40 or so
Rod Bearings $24.73
Head Bolts (ARP Studs) $114.99

So I am thinking unless I can find a significant price drop in OEM rings, Baxter wins. Also I think the stock head bolts are going back on. And bearings are getting re-used.

Also call baxter and see if they have a discount for shops. My dad gets a good discount from dealers and places like napa for being a shop. It's like 25% off. Just make up a name say you will have your assistant come and pick it up. I don't know if that will work but it's worth a try.

I already have a Baxters discount. The prices you see are with the discount.

Centerline Motorsports baby.

isnt that D15B like the VX engine? I mean its a 1.5VTEC... so the parts should be silimlar right?

Well for sure you need a new headgasket if you want that ---- to last. The rings... a cheap honing tool, A drill, a feeler gauge. And some silicone.

You can reuse the bearings if they arent fucked up, but you have to reuse them in the order they are, meaning dont mix them up.

Retorque the head bolts a bit tighter then suggested.. and you should be fine... Ive only built 1 engine in my life and it was the easiest ------- thing ive ever done.... good luck man....

Nothing like the VX Engine at all
Its more like the D16z6, same bore, slightly shorter stroke, exact same head with a shorter stroke. I researched and found that the proper rings are the z6 rings, and ordered them today, they'll be here tomorrow.

$105 for new rings, a headgasket, and new rod bearings. I ordered the rod bearings but don't know if I should use them. Anyone have any experience with ACL rod bearings and their quality?

Just reuse everything and get new rings..
It's done many times before with good results
