Default parking brake

recently my parking brake has been acting wierd. normally, a parking brake will make clicking noises as you lift it up to engage it. then it will lock and you have to press the button to release it. recently however, this is only the case about half the time. the other half of the time i can pull the parking brake up with absolutely no resistance, with no clicking noises(as if i were holding down the button), and it will fall right back down. when it does this, it does not work at all. if i pull the brake as high as it can go, my car will still roll unless i leave it in gear. now for the wierd part. when it works, it makes the clicking noise and keeps my car from moving, and pretty much does its job like it is supposed to.

i recently did a brake job about 5 or 6 months back on all four brakes, and adjusted the parking brake as well. my normal brakes that i press with the pedal work flawlessly. the light for the parking brake still works. also, looking at the cable adjuster at the ebrake handle, it appears the parking brake is still tensioned properly.

does anybody have any ideas? thanks.

Something in the actual lever that is maybe coming off sometimes and attaches itself back on? That's all I can think of. It couldn't be the actual brakes, I wouldn't think. Take the console apart and check ---- out inside there.

My ---- was acting up today too. Everything is and was working perfect, but today I let the brake down and tried to take off, and my right rear tire was locked. No abnormal feeling in the e-brake lever or anything. I tried to go forward and backward and I was just dragging that one tire. Then I felt it unlock and everything was cool. WTF? And everything is back to normal again. At first I thought someone "chalked" my car. lol
