OK... 6000rpm rev limit!?

WTF?! Since I built the mini and dropped it in last week, I've had a ~6000rpm rev limit. It seems to change by a few hundered rpms in different gears.

Cam timing? Fuel pressure? VTec oil pressure? Could any of these thigns cause rev limit? Or is it something else?

i dont have the answer to your question but since u live in the kc metro area like i do....can i ask you a question or two...you know anyone who has a DX head laying around...a good one that is...cause i have a lady who needs a new head on her 91 crx DX....wouldnt an SI head just work the same if you have one of those ??? i think they would...not for sure though...and last but not least...you know anyone here in the metro area who is selling an SI motor, tranny and ECU ???? if so i will buy.

thanks

Actually.. I have a DX head, and the Si (PM6) ECU.. as for a tranny, I'm in search for one of those myself. Have you checked the locals? Rich Ind., JD's, A to Z, Parts Pull, Midway, MO-Kan? They tend to have everything I need..

As for the head, I'll let it go for $50. The ECU for the same.. Let me know, and we can get together and make the deal.

So your actually hitting the fuel cut? not just 'feeling' like it? Wierd
What ECU? Any codes?
The only things that pops into my head is the cold rev limit caused by a unplugged or faulty temp sensor?

Re:OK... 6000rpm rev limit!?

are you feeling VTEC cross over? I have the same problem on a z6 head on a y8 block... every now and then when I hit 6200 RPM the fuel cuts off, seems like some of that ECU memory bullshit to me because it will stop until I restart the car!
Just curious are you using an AFC? I had a really fucked up problem with mine, where I never set my engine to a 4 cylinder and it kept changing my RPM signals... of course the del sols have a tendancy to have the RPM gauge stop reading so I had to rely on the AFC which was saying I was at 3,000 RPM when I was really at around 5-6 :P

Wow, those are both good ideas that I never really thought about... I need to check that crap! :-D Simple things that get overlooked during the swap could easily be the problem.. thanks guys, I'll check that when my car gets home. My g/f took it to work.. she's a junkie, addicted to boost!

Yes, VTec crosses over.. so far, nothing has been fixed. Air Temp is working, per EcuControl datalog output...

Hrm.. Ignitor (Coil?).. ya.. I'll swap that out. Maybe I'm just not getting enough spark and falling off. Now, also, I am using a Y8 head with a 91 Si dizzy.. Every Mini-Me setup I have ever seen said this shouldn't be a problem.. but.. it's also the Internet. Maybe that's it?
