Default oil ring tensioner adjustment?

I am gaping my new rings and was wondering whats the best way to adjust a oil ring tensioner? When I place it in the cylinder it seems like its to tight. Can I just squeeze some of the tabs so it gets shorter? How tight do I want the oil ring tensioner to feel when I move up and down through the cylinder?

You might have a set for oversized pistons, but i'd think that would be pretty noticeable.

You should not have to mess with it at all.

I had to shave some off my oil rings. It simply would not fit in the bore. However the 2nd ring gap was too loose for some reason, right out of the box.

Everyone said don't ---- with the oil rings but you gotta do what you gotta do.
