i've alway just took off the whole hub, and set it on a jack stand out of the way. have one person with a screwdriver(flathead) pry on the cv joint on the tranny. and the the other pull on the axlve and it pops out pretty easy, but that ---- is the easy stuff. getting the tranny back on will be the hardest. have fun though

LOL... C'mon bone. Post another pic of your tranny jack.

I use the good old "grab it with 2 hands through the engine bay, try to get it in place, and then hold it with one hand while I try to get a bolt or two threaded, all while my skinny arms tremble..." method. It sucks, I know.

I don't know why so many people have such a problem with the shift linkage pin (a.k.a. bitch pin)... A 5/16" punch and hammer works beautifully.

I used to pull the axles too but I don't anymore. Just take the fork looking thing off the end of your strut (bolt through back & bolt/nut on bottom) and then remove the cotter pin and castle nut from your ball joint underneath the hub. Pry the hub off the joint and it swings right out. Make sure you put plastic bags or something over the axle splines when you pull them from the tranny (use a screwdriver or prybar to "pop" them out of the tranny--don't pull on the axle itself). There is a little less space if you leave them on, but it's much quicker and easier if you leave them.
