don't worry about all the vtec/nonvtec ----. It's just about the foot pattern on the dist that matters. I'm using a nonvtec obd2 dist on a p28. I'm gonna mod my b7 dizzy to work on my LS head.

not sure on the y8, on a z6 with a b7: the foot pointing at the vtec solenoid will be amputated. the hole on top will be extended. the leg facing to the front of the engine will be notched.
you can mock it up to see.

We had a OBD1 ZC distributor work on a B16..
We cut off all the mounting points and welded new ones and the thing that sticks in the cam..we had to take it of and put it back 180 degree turned.
Cause when it was at TDC the rotor was pointing to the sparkplug wire for cylinder #4.

Hell as long at that part of the dist goes into the end of the cam your set. It's just the foot pattern that is just the difference. How did you get past the cam angle sensor since the dist for the dohc zc don't have them?

The B7 and Y8 dizzys are the same. The only one that is gay is the Z6. It has a wider mounting points. But the internals are the same. You can take a B7 apart and put it in a Z6 dizzy housing... considering that the Z6 is bad, or vice versa.
