Default No power below 3500 in first gear?????

89 CRX Si, 14b, 450's, TurboEDIT, 7 psi, D16z6 head.

We ran the car at the track yesterday for the first time since the mini-me. And we were running on average 2 seconds slower than just the turbo/stock engine alone (yea, I was pissed). The problem is in first gear it almost feels like a fuel cut off the line (WB says it is fine though) and the RPM's are climbing REDICULOUSLY slow through all of the other gears. In first the turbo doesn't start to spool until around 5000 RPM (other gears have fine turbo spool). She was holding her shifts until around 7000 and instead of being in 4th or 5th at the end of the track she was still in third with RPMs SLOOOOOOOLY climbing. The car is running like a champ in town and holds an idle great. I checked for vac/boost leaks and found nothing (the gauge still reads fine too). Tightened the bov slightly(greddy type s almost all the way lose before) and it didn't affect anything.

You know the story, throw out some ideas for me to check.

sound like your wastegate isnt closed all the way.

pretty common for the flappers to get stuck open on those, and if you use the stock 14b o2 housing, you can't hear if its open or not.

thats one thing i liked about my open dumptube.

using an external gate with an open dumptube (sorry, forgot to mention it).

I ran out and checked the timing on it again and it turns out that I was 2 degrees off on my timing. That fixed about 90% of the problem, but first gear is still more laggy than it was with the a6 head.

i would say maby the vtec head has higher compresion so so there isnt as much combustion hapening b4 it spools umm i had a dohc zc that i boosted and it spooled around 3500 with stock internal. when i pult low comp pistons in the block it started spooling around 2500 to 2800 but i was confused and my friend said the same thing about his boosted b16 when he pult in ls pistons i dont know if the vtec head is that much of a difrence but if ur waistgate is shut thats about all i can think of

Like I said, timing was 2 degrees off, but I got it set. That only took care of about 90% of the problem.
