A light shot of PB or WD40 will help the squeak, but also attract lots of dirt. The tbelt also doesn't need to be super ------- tight. How much deflection can you get out of it by pressing firmly on the middle of the straight side?

dont worry. i didnt put any brake fluid on it. dont have any anyways. but as far as the belt being too tight. its the opposite. it looks too loose. i have over an inch of play on the straight side. the belt makes a fapping sound when it runs. thats why im wondering if the tensioner pulley is the wrong pulley. its moved to tighten all the way and thats how its sitting right now.

but i did spray some pb blaster on all the pulleys. fixed it for a bit then the squeel(not squeak) slowly started to come back. usually it just starts out of know where and i cant even think its so damned loud. since it slowly started to scream it sounded like it was coming from the alty pulley more than anything. which makes since because the last owner replaced that belt right before he gave it to me. said the old belt broke. not sure if the old belt was just old or what

Yeah dude that's possible. I know when I ripped my B7 out of my car and put my built Z6 in the Z6 had a different tensioner arm and the location of the spring bolt (where the tensioner spring hooks to) was placed differently. Iirc the Z6 spring bolt was outside the loop of the belt and the B7 spring bolt was inside. It might be the other way around, but I know the tensioners definitely had different length arms.

yea. the tensioner spring was pretty slack. it more or less just hangs there on the spring bolt. but it is outside the loop. i remember on my old z6 civic the spring was pretty much a snug fit.

but like i said. im wondering if its not the alternator. when the squeel slowly came back it sounded like it came from there. im gonna spray it down with some pb and try again tomorrow. hopefully i dont have to buy a new alternator

thats pretty much what i did. the damned pulley is as far as it can go. thats why im thinking its the wrong one. the guy that owned it before didnt really know ---- about cars. im finding half-assed ---- all over the place. some old guy that lives out in the country. im thinking he may work at or know someone in a junkyard. guy told me the only thing wrong with the car is that it needs a seal replaced between the block and tranny. turns out one of the big *** bolts was barely screwed in. im just trying to fix this car up and sell for a profit. buddy of mine has a mk3 supra hes wanting to sell me for $800. HG is fine, needs new powersteering pump. so i just want to get this car to sound like its running right

Is it possible you have the wrong belt? The B7 belt has 2 more teeth than the Z6. If you really have that tensioner tightened all the way there really isn't much else you can tighten, ya know? Even if it's the wrong tensioner unless the diameters of the tensioners are different the place where they are mounted stays the same, so the arm length wouldn't matter.

i shouldnt have the wrong belt, i just bought it and rechecked the box a bit ago before i threw it out. it said for d15. if its wrong then it got miss boxed. which i dont doubt. i once got a starter for a like a d15 i think when i had my z6 car. numbers on the box matched up with z6, just not the product

dont know were u guys get your info from but brake fluid will NOT eat rubber. when its mixed with petroleum based products it will eat rubber and expand it. think about it your master cylinder cap is sealed with rubber and the fluid doesnt eat that. petro. based prodducts on the other hand will eat rubber so if you want to listen to those other people and put wd-40 or pb blaster or belt dressing on thereor whatever they said good luck.

Well PB was intended to soften seals and make them seal again, as well as for breaking rusted parts loose. That's why I said a small spray if needed, but brake fluid as far as I know will be fine.
