I picked up a cheap 99-00 B16 tranny locally then bought a used ITR LSD off ebay for a couple hundred. It already had the bearings on it so i just needed to order the right shim. The original one was only like 2 letters off. I put in an LS 5th while i was in there for better highway rpms. This was my first tranny. Its really not difficult if you have a service manual.

im planing on getting the obx lsd from ebay of course.
How hard would you say the dif install was. im pretty talented on taking stuff to apart and putting it back. , but i never pulled a trany apart

but 450 sounds alittle high, from what im getting from you guys.
I would'nt say it was very easy, but it werent hard either, all you have to do is keep the gear set on the shafts together, use some tape and tape them together and lift them out all as one.
the final drive bolts are reverse threads. so righty loosy lefty tighty.
on assembly make sure all forkes are lined up with the hole on the cover before you start tightening them down
tighten the cover bolts in steps.
(reason the forkes needs to be lined up proper, on my 1st attempt to install an LSD I cracked the tranny housing because the fork was not lined up)
it got really easy for me now , I have rebuilt 5 b series trannies so far, I currently have ls cable tranny internals in my b16 hydro case, reason, when I drive on the autobahn my revs dont stay too high

dif isnt broken.

I need more traction.... all i get is smoke more smoke and smoke, when i try and start from a stop . the local guy was just pricing me to rebuild, if when he pulled it apart it was uggly and what not.

Why is the ls trany such ----?
If i do a b16 trany, my car would be revin out the *** when im on the highway, if i put a ls 5th is it, the jump from 4th to 5th is alot,

either way, with the ls, im pullin 32 mpg average on the Highway still, as long as i stay out of boost,

so do the ls tend to break more, or is it just the gearing that is ----??
