Default Ls/Vtec and the oil control orifice

I forgot to put the oil control orifice back into the block after i put the head on. Do i need this? I ask because when I referred to the diagrams, then my engine, it appears as though half of the hole where it fits into is exposed with the B16 head on. So is this passage not used with a vtec head??
Thanks

well the hole i thought it went in is not the right one. If you look in the picture (top center) there is the orifice. next to it is the hole that i thought it went into. Anyways, am i going to have to pull the head off and put this orifice back into the block?
