Im also doing the LS rod Vitara piston setup. I read somewhere that there is a certain Vitara piston that you dont have to do any machining to on the pin side of the piston bc it all matchs up. I wanted to know if that was true. I think the piston was a 2000 GX Vitara piston.

I mean you dont have to do any machining to the LS rod pin side bc the Vitara pistons pin is already the same size. So the only machining that would need to be done is taking .20'' off both sides of the rod on the crank side.

the website I read this on said that the 1998- 2000 GX Vitara piston had the same size pin as the LS so no modification had to be done. Just found the site on google, here is a direct quote.
PDN 98-00 GX Pistons With LS Rods:
The crank ends of the LS rods and D series are same size at 1.890"
Shave .022" of each side of the crank end of the rod.
With GX pistons, you don't need the small end bushed
they just press on. (the GX piston has a 21mm wrist pin)
GX Standard size piston part number = 13010-PDN-A00
GX Standard piston ring set number= 13011-PDN-A01

The Vitara piston that you use for a D16 engine has the exact same pin as the D16Z6/A6/Y8 and most D series honda blocks, so yes you WILL have to make the bronze bushing. and its not .20 it shold be .175 off each side. I had different rods off different blocks and when compared to the SI rods (i measured all of them) the difference was always around .1754986 and so on, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE OFF .20, Measure your stock rod first hence why he said these were not actual numbers. the actual numbers between the SI D16Z6 rod and the LS will be around .175 off each side
