I just recently blew my engine's head gasket and in the process of rebuilding it. It was a pain in the a$$ to scrape off the head gasket, but it eventually came off. I went ahead and check to see if the rings need to be replace and this what I found when I took the pistons out......

Here's what I'm worry about.....
carbon buildup and the piston housing looks like it
was scrape..

Looks like it's a b16. Yeah that looks like there was some friction in there with the cylinder and the piston....

 

nope its a d16a6, atleast thats what the name plate says.. ouch..

 

that looks rather unhealthy, looks like it's time for another d-series build up, I love engine builds, take pictures for us.

Did it make funny noises at all from that?

And why is all the coolant gone around the sleeves? I see the drain bolt is still in? or was it already drained?


B16? Y8? man, can you guys read? lol.. its an D16a6

 

It's a stock D16a6. The engine started with uneven compression about 1 1\2 years ago when I turbo charge it. I was lucky enough to have this engine last me this long while boosting 7-10lbs with a FMU.

i drain the coolant already. Wish me luck guys, I'm engine hunting today @ the local wreck yard.

 

I'm a newbie when it comes to engine internals, but couldn't you just hone out the sleeves and put over sized pistons in?

you only have to put oversize pistons if you bore, hone means basically just to resurface the cylinder walls.
