jdm d15b in a 95 vx hatch
I bought the motor and dx hydro tranny for 400.00. i am ready to drop this bitch in but, is there any thing i should be aware of when doing this swap?both motors are obd-1 and shouldnt everything be plug and play any info about this would help me.one other thing this motor has 2 stage vtec right?it runs on 12 valves until 4000rpms 1st stage vtec and then runs on all 16 valves and then after 5500 2nd stage vtec hits to redline @ 7200 rpms, does that sound right.

the obd1 d15b's didn't have 2 stage vtec. The way you described it, it sounds like a vtec-e motor cause thats the same way they work. Are there two solenoids on the vtec thingamagiggy? To run the dual stage vtec you need that ecu otherwise it won't work unless you just jerry rig something up.

ok its only got one vtec solinoid, and is stamped d15b on the block,is this motor equal to a d16z6? are the compression numbers close?i need to adjust the lifters are they like the z6 in:.007-.009 & ex:.009-.011?

Then it's just a normal jdm d15b vtec motor otherwise there's jdm d15b vtec-e motor which is just a VX motor. What does it say on the valve cover? I'm pretty sure all jdm d15b's came with the black "vtec" valve covers or black "vtec-e" covers. No "H" covers like most of the z6's were here.
