I have respect for Murdoc, He's been here forever, I'm sure I've learned from his posts. But if I asked this question I would get "flamed" for it. I just think he deserves a little ---- for posting something this simple. Line up the timing marks and install the head.

lol. it's all good guys. thanks for backing me up. :-*

dude actually pm'ed me and apologized. it's whatever.

mind you I posted this at 5 in the morning, I wasn't in the thinking state of mind, I was ------' irriated as it was. I just wanted an answer and thanks to the sexy folks at HMT I got it quick status :-*

secondly, I have OCD and ADHD. so I always second guess myself and am rather impatient. regardless of how simple it is, I would ask for another opinion. how bad is it? I even ask others to check my lugs to make sure it tight enough. not bad enough, I drive back home after leaving sometimes like 3-5 times to make sure I closed the garage. still not bad? I wake up at night and think i didn't lock my car so I go outside and check and not fall back asleep for a couple hours cause I probably have insomnia. I'm a little fucked up. :-\

thirdly, I don't like to half ass stuff. and when removing a head, setting it to tdc is the most half ass I would like to go. other than that it's hitting up my buddy, pulling out the degreeing kit, slapping the plate on the crank and doing it up.

nonetheless, I got the head on and I still don't feel comfortable about it. runs and everything, but I'm probably just gonna yank it out. Is degreeing that neccessary? probably not, just an extra peace of mind for me. did I not know of the timing/tdc marks? of course I knew, the motor is bone stock. it's the second guessing and I wanted another another opinion from people I trust which are those who posted usefull info in this thread. I even asked my friend that was there like a dozen times to look at the gears and look at the crank to make sure it lined up.

i try to live by "do it right or do it twice" as you can tell I'll be doing it twice.

and yes I know that degreeing it is gonna be a waste of my time since it's stock. it'll probably have the same results that the motor has now, but it would make me feel a little better.

I have no problem taking it on and off the block. it's just when it doesn't go my way, it throws me off

ON a I-4 motor head should be installed with the crank 90 degrees BTDC on compression on #1 cylinder.

AKA all pistons at 1/2 stroke, no chance of ------- up a valve!
