Default how much it is goin to cost to build a block, resleeve, pistons/rods.

my setup right now is b18b1/turbo/gsr tranny in a hatchback with t3/t4 .57 trim at 10psi with hondata.

im lookin forward to resleeve a block, put in some pistons/rods, so i can boost higher safely, and since i have a ls, my rev limit is at 7,200. Is it worth it spending money on my head so i can rev higher?

get a b16 or b18c if you really want to rev higher. or even go LS/VTEC. itl be cheaper in the long run, to sleave it and rods/pistons ETC and a new valve train to take the higher rpm would proberly be around $3k atleast

but then a gsr cost 2,500, and it wont be resleeve and pistons and rods which is bullet proof.

buy a b18b shortblock and start work on that (unless u dont mind having a few months down time on the current motor).

pistons/rods $1k sleeving.. around $1k, machine work few hundred. already at $2.5k and u havent even started on the head. it's not cheap but it'll be damn near bulletproof (with proper tuning ala hondata)

Go with Benson/RS machine/Golden Eagle all real good sleeve companys. Its going to range, from 900-1200 for sleeve/bore/hone/deck etc. Definatly just send off your blown b18. Thats what I did. Pistons and rods, I'm pretty biased on those, JE & CP makes great pistons, but I've been using Endyn rollerwave pistons on all my builds and have had great sucsess with them. Rods, pretty much open field, Crower/FR-Manly/Carrillo/Pauter/Oliver are definatly your high end rods. They are about twice the price of the Eagle & Scat rods. I personally run Eagle rods, they are fine for what I do.

As far as head work, I wouldnt even touch the ls head, maybe use it as a boat anchor or something, but I would never build a head up for a ls. Get a B16 or GSR head, you'll thank me later

Jeff

Dont forget the cost of bearings, gaskets etc. Those little things add up in builds

after a long conversation with Jonesy at Comptech, I am planning at least 5K for my resleeved motor build. thats at 85mm bore, stock stroke, and everything top to bottom built. not all the best stuff, but nothing cheap either. On another note, if you want Comptech to assemble your block, then you should call and talk to them first, tell them what parts you are using and what your plans are. if they dont like your combinations, they wont touch your motor. they are too invested into their reputation to risk it on a poor choice of parts.
