Yep those dx trannys suck ***. I had one on my d16z and I could do 90mph on second gear at 7200 rpm. When I switched to the Si tranny I dropped a whole second on the quater mile

Best thing to do is to count the teeth on the ring gear on the diff , then the counter shaft, then divide them.
You'll get the Final Drive ratio you need.

I swapped out an si tranny for a dx tranny, but when i went to put my cluct back on, the splines weren't right. When i asked someone, they told me that a dx tranny clutch won't fit the si. Try that out and see. Oh, and if you're pullin to 90 in 3rd, it usually is a dx box.

I went to the yard about a month ago, I found an 89 crx si complete. I did a ghetto pull to get the tranny, I was in a hurry. The car had about a 150,000 miles on it and I was happy to get out of there with it only after two prior attempts i had failed to get it.
When I got it home I took it into the garage, threw it up on the table and noticed some yellow paint marker scribble on it. Well to say the least I was crappin twinkies. I thought I had grabbed some swapped out refurbished dx tranny I had to make sure I got the right tranny, so I took the case apart to verify I had an si tranny. Besides I found a broken 1-2 shifter fork. It pays to look further.

All this makes me wonder now. I bought a 91 Si about a year ago from a second owner and never modified have all the maintance records. I dont see anywhere in the maintance about a new tranny. I swapped a dohc zc in it and i could do 90 in 3rd. My friend has a 89 si with a sohc zc and he says theres no way he could hit 90 in 3rd. Im pissed now. Time to go searching for an si tranny and see if its different.

Check those links I posted. Alot of people don't know the difference between them and end up selling them and buying them without knowing for sure. It pisses me off. I have talked to so many people that were selling them and asked them what numbers it had on it and ti turned out to be a DX tranny. I have pissed some people off by doing this though, but ---- it. I'm not going to buy something that is not what I wanted and if someone is selling an "Si" tranny, I want to make sure they know for sure it is an SI tranny. Most of the time they aren't.
