Default Help on swap D16z6

Ok, I thought I had everything figured out, but these guys are not helping. I just got a SOHC Vtec ZC, the other day, was used on 92-95 4dr Ferio, Civic, in Japan. It is OBD1 and a direct swap for a d16z6. Basically the same motor with 5 more hp. Now we took the old dpfi d15 out and need to drop the new engine in. The guys that were helping me out insist that I need to get an Si d16a6 intake manifold, distributor and computer for this engine to work at all. I have a 95 ex ecu that could be used with this engine, plus all of the wiring from the ecu to the engine from a 95 EX, Which should work on this ZC. I don't see why I can't use the stock zc manifold and distributor with a 95 d16z6 ecu. IT would be a lot of work, but I would not have to spend more money. They are talking about 150 for an intake manifold + injectors $75.00, plus a distributor $125, plus ecu $100. I think they just want to make me spend more money. What do you think? I know there's a bunch of people that have done the d16z6 swap, Did you do any of these parts or just the stock ones?
Please let me know, I'm stock right now because they don't even want to try to make it work.

I think I'm just going to use their help to get the engine in, then try getting all the electrical done by someone else.
by the way it's an 88 hatch DX swapping what is basically a d16z6.
Thanks
David

I've done this swap twice, and what they are saying is true. When u bought ur engine, it shoulda came with a 92-95 intake manifold and injectors... never seen a motor (especailly sohc) come without these. Anyways, being that you have a DX and not an Si, you are screwed... kinda. You basically have 2 options,

buy a 88-91 si harness/manifold/ecu/injecotrs/distributor and a rpm switch to control vtec activation

or

buy a 92-95 civic harness/manifold/ecu/injectors/dist (get dx/ex or si harness - dx you will have to splice in two wires for vtec -not hard)

since you have a dx, I would go with the 92-95 civic stuff since you have to do some serious wiring anyways. If you do the 88-91 si way, ur engine will not be as fast as it should because the fuel maps are different.

Ok, It came with the manifols distributor, everything. and I have an ecu already 95 ex. Also I have the wiring harness that comes from the 95 ecu to the engine area. I don't know if this harness just plugs in to the engine, or if I'm missing another one that would connect to this harness then go to the engine. That's why I think I could use the 95 manifold that came with it, the ecu, and that wiring harness, All I would need is some wiring diagrams, extra wiring, and lots of time. If I use the 95 ecu and wiring, do I still need a resistor box?
Thanks for the reply, I'm glad to be talking to someone that has done this before.

I've never heard of anyone swapping the wiring from the ecu. Most people just add/splice wires into their existing harness, because there are some wires running to the ecu that don't come from the engine bay (ie. starter signal, misc. sensors, cel, etc.) You do not need to use a injector resistor box if you use 92+ civic injectors. I seriously recommend taking ur car to a shop to get wired up, as this is not an easy swap ur doing (obd0 dx - obd1 si) If you are brave/crazy enough to try to wire this urself, u can find everything at honda-hybrid & hasport.com. Check out DX-ZC wiring, this will give you the most info, also, there are obd0/1 pinouts that will help. Good luck...
