Re:Help..Alternator Pivot bolt from hell..
I went to home depot and got a bigger hammer and a couple of pieces of 2' rebar. I've been smashing that bolt for about the last 20 minutes with no movement. Getting beyond pissed at this point..

I went to harbor freight and got a air saw and hacked the first part out fine. Didn't budge the back part at all. I had no clearance to get at the back one either, so I had to pop the knuckle out and move the axle out of the way. I was halfway through the back part when this stupid ------- saw just stopped working on me. Grrr! I getting close now.. I just have to take this POS saw back and get another one.

Re:Help..Alternator Pivot bolt from hell..
I normally use a long long 3/8 drive extension, and just beat the living ---- out of it with a big hammer. Lots of lube always helps. I think cutting the bolt or the mount off is crazy, it should be able to come out.
When worst comes to worst, I always use my impact hammer with my super long punch. Always kicks ***!

Re:Help..Alternator Pivot bolt from hell..
Ok, I finally got the bitch out last night around 10. I went back to HF and they gave me a new saw and I picked up a air hammer that came with 7 punches. All of the punches were to wide to fit, so that didn't help. I had to finish cutting the bolt between beating the **** out of the bottom until it finally broke loose. The end just fell out at that point, but the pin that was left in the alternator is another story. After clamping it into a vise tight enough to hear cracking noises, I was able to push the pin out about an inch with the air hammer after drilling a little indent for the chisel tip to seat in. After that, it took multiple soakings with PB Blaster and clamping a set of vice grips on and beating it with a 4 lb sledge for about 20 mins.
