Having dumb shift linkage problems.

Re: Having dumb shift linkage problems.
I put my old attempted cut/welded linkage back in, and I can actually find 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Also, the linkage i got from ebay seems too short as well as my damn shifter hits the console.. Wondering if I got fucked on ebay, or if my transmission is fucked or what the hell the problem is.

Re: Having dumb shift linkage problems.
If you remove the shift linkages off the trans, you should be able to shift gears, you may need to use allittle perswazion such as channal locks or a small prybar. If you can't shift it with the linkages off then you have internal problems, i have seen bent shift forks cause this problem keeping you stuck on one shaft and allowing you to shift on other shaft. The other problem which makes allittle more sense is a crapped out syncros and or gears, i have even seen trashed blocker rings do this. IN other words if you cant shift it by hand with the linkages off, get another one or find someone who can recon it. I would try to find another known good one and try to shift it by hand with linkages off, i think this will reveal your problem. Don't waist any more time with the linkages until you verified it will even shift by hand.
