h22/h23 tensioner help tap in
the tensioners are different diameters. obviously but my question is the h22 timing belt shorter than the h23? im assuming so , they have different part numbers i checked on that i just want to make sure on which one i need to buy thanks guys for any help

Everyone uses the h22 belt. Most have a problem saying its really tight.
I'm guessing you use the h23 tensioner pulley? That is the reason it's so tight. It's a lot bigger than the h22 pulley.

Ya man its tight... Use the h22 belt though... We had to put the tensioner on Last and kind of jimmy it into position. The other alternative is to leave the H2O pump off and get everything set and fasten it into place last. The tensioner spring and all that ---- is really not even nesseccary. We didnt bother puting it on my motor the second time.
The important thing is that you need to make sure that you shim the tensioner correctly so that the belt sits propperly on the pulley itself.

Mine was tight also, even used the Trust Timing belt too. Warning about after 5K miles go back and check it, my belt stretched enough to where I had to readjust it. And the springs, blah dont even bother with them, they just get in the way when you can only slide the belt over so much if it's going into a civic. I used a battery hook and filed the hooked end down to get into that lil hole on the tensioner and loosen the bolts from the bottom and have someone lightly pull up while you turn the crank by hand. DO NOT RUN the rear cam gear cover that makes it alot easier too. Front is ok to run unless you like pulling off your gears everytime you have to do a belt adjustment

On mine we had to shim the pulley OUT to get it to be in positin (where the belt is located properly on the pulley)... On the outside i just used the balanceshgaft tenisioner pulley for a spacewr so that I didnt have to change the main "stud"...

The 23 has a different belt pattern so you can use it but you have to use all the same pulley s the 23 has. Other wise just man it on there like we did. Try matching up your bottom end and put you belt on the gear s and then bolt the gears to the cam shafts if you dont want to try the water pump method. Which is hell of alot easier. Are you trying to do this with the motor in the car?
