Yup any importer will tell you that b16a blocks are almost all gone. hence the price increase on them. Really the only way most sell now is has complete swaps and are obd2 swaps aka 2k+

Well Im gonna guess just basic math with how many us Si crx's they sold to the rtio of Japan and there population may get a rough #. All I know is they are a bitch to get these days use to be lines of them and 500 bucks a pop at most importers in california now good luck. Lots of replacement motors d15's, b18 non vtec and b20 coming over.

do you think the profitability has anything to do with it??

i mean, why sell a $1600 b16a swap when you can sell a $6k k20r swap. i'm sure the profits on k motors are much higher and importers dont want to waste money on finding older motors that all the HT fanboys think are junk now

Nope the guy I go to has atleast 1 persona day call for a b16a longblock

He gets them and emails me and I get everyone he gets lucky for me

he said that people are goin over to other parts of asia tryin to source b vtec motors has they are not coming over in containers really at all anymore

The B will always be king. H-T in the whole spec of things is hardly the basis of import racing. 99 percent of people on that site will never invest money into a car they just talk ---- and ride nuts of the ignorant. I mean look how many people are there. How many have actual built cars ya not many

This is true...when I called up to order my motor they (H-Motors) told me they were still on backorder for a month and he was still getting at least 2-3 calls a day with people placing orders for them. I see alot of b16's and such coming from hong kong area and other parts of asia like you said. Hell, most of the "jdm" crap on ebay any more is now coming from hong kong or some other chinese-type of country. Very rarely do you see anything come in from Europe or even Canada, although sometimes you can still score an EF SiR nose cut from Canada. Even Honda Tuning Mag put out a report a few years ago about b16's slowly dissappearing, although it was thought that 80% of the b16's purchased pretty much sit in the engine bays of "show cars" that never get driven...what a waste. :P It's a sad truth, but the days of the "b-series" are coming to a slow end, especially when I can go to junkyards now and buy k-series motors for under $1200 at my local yards. I don't see them becoming truly economical for a few years yet, but with the way things are going...
