gsr crank in an LS block?

anyone ever put a gsr crank in a b18a/b block? i cant find info anywhere on google. its all about LS cranks in gsr blocks. I am sure that it is mechanically possible, but what rod/piston combo do you use? Thanks

Re: gsr crank in an LS block?

Without machining the rods or modifiing the block, you have no choice but to match the rods to the crank.

your piston to deck hieght will be smaller with this setup. a ---- hair more compression, and wheni say ---- hair i mean the 12 year old peachfuzz type :8

i was thinking about using gsr rods/crank/pistons in an ls block. i keep thinking that it will work but with the shorter stroke it will drop compression numbers considerably. please tell me if i am wrong.

Re: gsr crank in an LS block?

It will work fine.

You're thinking backwards on it. The blocks are pretty much the same height. Some have said that one is slightly taller, but less than a 1mm.

Re: gsr crank in an LS block?

it has nothing to do with the shorter stroke.
the LS block is a ---- hair shorter than a GSR block.

GSR deck height: 212.39mm rod length: 137.897mm

LS deck height: 211.84mm rod length: 137.008mm

cool thanks for the great info. i will go ahead with my project. will having the gsr internals allow me to rev higher than having b18a internals, sorry for if this a dumb question.

prolly but do you have a head/ cams that will benifit from reving higher

Re: gsr crank in an LS block?

Are you going to still be using a LS head?

The LS head will be the limiting factor for revving. The valve springs are not very strong and the floating rocker setup is not as reliable.

A friend floated a valve on his LS revving to just 7600.

I have GSR internals in my LS. Works fine. GSR RODS/PISTONS/CRANK. I'm not positive on stock GSR piston bore size tho, my block had to machined to fit the 81.5mm pistons I had for it.
