I would try sheet metal with some copper spray.

don't use sheet metal anywhere near the exhaust manifold. It might work on the lower half of the downpipe but not where it gets really hot.

just cut the flange off and get a piece of flex pipe and clamp it onto both ends. it will prolly wear out in a year or so, but it will take stress off of the manifold/turbo setup.

good idea to use the flex pipe. if u dont want to use clamps and want to have have everthing welded u can use the flex pipe and use some type of a 3 bolt joint, weld it up and and then u can unbolt ur dp from the rest of the exhaust. www.summitracing.com

why not get some gasket material from an auto parts store and make one from that? The kind with cardboard over the metal core.

Have you ever tired to weld flexpipe? it is paper thing almost and welds like ----. Clamp it....it isn't worth the time to weld, not to mention when you go to pull that ---- back apart, it is just loosening the clamps.
