everything i've read and seen in person, shows the ls weak point is the rod bolts.
stock rods with arp bolts are fine, but with the stock bolts you are gonna throw a rod.
but all the first hand i've seen are on ls-v motors. so heads going to 9k aren't a problem.

the oem rod bolts are fine. JD should be in shortly to set everyone straight on this as it seems to be one of his pet peeves.

I don't know man, there are a lot of proven OEM parts out there, but I never had any luck with them, my first turbo car was completely stock did not last a month with my driving habits.
I never went back since then, don't wanna take the chance ever again on a serious build. I recently made 300whp on high mileage stock motor in a competitiion but I only did it on the dyno, tuned it rich with E85.

but in my serious motors I only use aftermarket parts, I am running a stock ignition thats about it..

i've seen 3 ls-v motors blow a rod through the block from a broken bolt. all 3 of those motors were shifting at 9200rpm. after he blew the 3rd one he decided to go with arps and hasn't blown a lsv since.
