gear grinding

Default gear grinding

it dose it once in a while.. tonight was the most odd.. right when i went from secound to 3erd with the clutch all the way in.. it grinded a bit when i went our of secound. i also been hearing a little whine. nicking nose from where the shift linkage is. anyone know why this can be happing?
the car has 182K miles and its been 15-20Kmiles sence i put honda tranny oil in it.

Drain Tranny fluid and look for sparkles :P.

Probably low on fluid.....or your syncros/shift arms are taking a ----. :P

Really? I have a hellish 3rd gear grind followed by a slight 4th gear grind. I'm running some GTX 10w-30 in it. You think a different oil will actually fix that? It was running on some thick *** gear oil before I got it(previous owner didn't know any better).

Mine has that nasty 3rd gear grind too. I haven't changed the oil in a while, so i think i'll do that when all this damn snow melts and see if it helps any. Would slightly thicker be better?

My cars wouldnt be right without a 3rd gear grind. I destroy them so fast I have really just given up. I have so many dead L3's

i put 70w/130 gear oil in my honda tranny all the time :-p

till i got hella cheap and didnt care and put 10w/30 wal-mart brand oil
