fuel pump problem?

ok so

gsr crx

only code i have now is code 10.. ill change the sensor later..

car in neutural rev it as high as you want.. engine is healthy no issues at all..

get in the car put it into gear and drive..

if you drive slowly it drives fine.. stay under 3k rpm and the car drives fine!

the second you go over 3k it falls flat on its face! like no fuel!

so i can get in the car and drive it all day if i stay under 3k rpm but the second i get on it the car falls FLAT and stays there no matter how long you hold down the throttle..

its not like a rev limit...

its like 99% flat and the other 1% is a pop you hear every couple seconds

but under 3k rpm the car runs and drives fine :(

i had a friend unplug his iat sensor and it didnt even make a different on his car why would it make a difference on mine :(

Re: fuel pump problem?

a wire on my AIT was fucked up once and it wouldnt even start all it would do is crank and crank and crank. well replace it and see whats up. :P

Re: fuel pump problem?

i would think that if it runs fine below 3k then IAT wouldnt affect it much above that.

Re: fuel pump problem?

aren't you using some rtp board or something? Make sure you don't have any full throttle shifts or launch or anything set.

Re: fuel pump problem?

Re: fuel pump problem?

Is it chipped with a FTL? If your VSS doesn't work right that will cause a revlimiter to impose itself at the trip rpm.

fts or ftl is full throttle shift and full throttle launch. Basically ftl keeps the rev limit at what you set it under a certain speed so you can plant your foot and you're already at your launching rpm. Your car thinks your speed is zero at all times.

lol yes my p75 is stock unchipped and it does the same thing my friends chipped p72 does and the same thing my neptune rtp does

i need to test the fpr... but i dont know how :X

buk9tp 08-21-2008 12:42 PM

ok so i changed the fpr.. and the car ran and drove perfect.. for a couple rippers.. couple burn outs.. then it acted up again.. i put my old fpr back on and it was fine again for a couple rippers and a drive arround the block then it acted up again...

if i release the pressure in the fuel lines then tighten the fpr back up it will run and drive fine for like 2 minutes..

so im guessing a problem with the fuel return line??? lol

buk9tp 08-21-2008 05:16 PM

Re: fuel pump problem?

or did i change out my fpr with another bad one? i got it from the junkyard..

stenseltizm 08-21-2008 06:31 PM

Re: fuel pump problem?

throw a 20$ vatozone fuel pressure gage on there and see what the pressure is doing during those 2 minutes.

have you replaced your fuel filter ever?

does your fpr have a proper vac line to it?

Did it always do this? Have you checked where the fuel line meets the rail?
-when I swapped out a blown ls for a b16 I used the stock ls fuel line. I fucked 2 things up a) I had the banjo bolt on upside down and it is not designed to go on that way b) I accidentally swapped the top and bottom washers.

That basically casued a huge restriction in the line and it fucked my flow up. Car idled fine but leaned out and fell on it's face under any load.

buk9tp 08-21-2008 08:06 PM

Re: fuel pump problem?

i have no idea what i did wrong but i just unplugged and replugged a bunch of vac lines today and the car runs and drives fine for the most part :X

now to get my iab's wired up, get the motorcycle battery on (still dont know if i wanna do this or not) then ill be 100% done :X

Re: fuel pump problem?

Sounds like the car is fine if you let it cool for a moment, then acts up when hot. Electrical problems (bad or corroded connections) manifest like that.

commutator in fuel pump shot?

buk9tp 08-24-2008 07:46 PM

Re: fuel pump problem?

now the problem wont go away.. its not even about cooling down.. literilly 2 seconds it takes to unscrew the dampner to relieve pressure

apparently im a dumb ass and thought the dampner was the fpr..

anyways.. if i unplug the vac line to the fpr no changes in the car whatsoever.

is there a ground for the fuel pump itself... i redid all the grounds..
