88-2000 D series trannys, you can remove the starter and fill thru shift cross shaft access plug hole.

19mm 6 point socket needed
Mine came right out Took the bolt off and pulled, and it came out with less force than I expected. Filled it up and popped the new axle in, but don't think I got the axle in all the way.. It's leaking oil a drop a second. Going back out for round 2.

Well, on further inspection, I did get it all the way in. Did I nick the oil seal surface or something on the transmission? Any way to fix this?

I guess now I'm replacing the oil seal around the axle.

yeah replace the seal around the axle. i was going to tell you to weld an old wrench to it then after its loose use a cutting wheel to cut the wrench at the base of the head. looks like you already got it.

Did the same. Frustrating. Autozone stocks the seal and it was around $5.

"nicking" the seal means you knocked the spring loose of off the seal.

I will only run Honda seals, seen too many others leak.

I'd post a pic, but photofuckit is down for maintaintass.

That's fucked, cuz Vatozone wants $25.99 for the seal. O'rly wants $11 or so.
Mista Bone, can I just pull the old seal and reinstall it then? Or did knocking the spring loose permanently destroy its sealing capability?

Hey bone, I had a question about the seals:
Do you tap em in until they stop, or until they're flush with the case?
