so i have been offered a trade for one of my MANY items forsale (you should check the classifieds ).

this is what he said about said transmission: "it doesnt leak, it was just one of the three bolt threads. i forgot which bearing it was, the last time it was ran was almost two years ago, and me and my friend couldnt remember if it was the input shaft bearing or the throwout bearing that makes the noise. it was kind of a slight thumping noise, i dont remember for sure weather it was when the clutch pedal was depressed or released, but i think it was when it was depressed"......"i dont know, i never looked into it. but the tranny is off and i moved the bearing/shaft that goes into the clutch assembly and it made a sound that would account for the noise before and it seemed to have some play. i moved the same one in the itr trans and it didnt have the play and didnt make the noise. so whatever that bearing is im pretty sure thats the cause."

the tranny is an S80 if that makes a diff....from the pic it looked to be a 94-95 (sticker, non-VIN tagged)...


now my plan was to run the hydro tranny i have in a EF with the Hasport hydro kit [EFB2]... but with the cost of the kit and the small minor issues that people are having, i might just say ---- it and swap everything from this tranny into a YS1 case. then i have a solid tranny with no "custom parts" that may be ------- ---- up...Honda OEM reliablity (excluding of course those homo diff pins in cable trannies )....



so i guess the questions would be: does this tranny sound like its fucked? or is it just a simple bearing swap? how hard is it to replace whatever is bad?
how hard is it to swap S80 internals into a YS1 case? any mods? worth my time? etc...

not worth the time, plus clutches are different among other minor details inside the case.

clutches are different same part numbers from ACT from 92-01...


you saying that i should just run the hydro tranny in the cable car?

90-93 B16 and MOST LS trannys use the small spline. Some of the later LS and all the 92-93 GSR have the hydro sozed clutch splines, but in a hydro case.

 

yeah i want to swap all the S80/GSR gears into one of those cases
