Once again everyone thinks there an engine builder
Go to the machine shop. Ask the 60 year old man questions. Doubt him because you read something on the net. Watch old man kick you out for being a dip ----.

simple enough, rebuild it per the manual. Its why its there and you can almost never go wrong using it. I would replace the bearings for the simple fact of the peice of mind. How much are they? -very cheap in relation to having a super fresh bottom end when you are all said and done.
So yeah, my advice, rebuild it per the book.
