engine rebuild

I have everything I need to rebuild my engine except that there is a hole in my oil pickup screen, what now I cant find a replacement,. is it safe to use while I'm trying to find one?

I've seen some fucked up ---- stuck inside those things. You better get a new one.

i almost put my motor back together with a leaf stuck in the pickup, stealthmode pointed it out otherwise i wouldn't even have known
